Abstract

This chapter provides an update and a short summary of the amendments to
the German standard terms and conditions for freight forwarding. It is based
on an article written in German by Rechtsanwälte Detlef Neufang and Hubert
Valder, which was published in the journal Transportrecht, (‘ADSp 2017: Wieder gemeinsames Vertragswerk’ (2017) TranspR 45–52) and is adapted here
in English for publication in this book with their kind permission. The original
article gives insights into the new framework from the viewpoints of the two
negotiating positions of forwarders and shippers/traders and has a detailed
analysis and explanation of the amendments. The chapter provides a short and
abbreviated overview of the development and content of the ADSp 2017 for
the international reader. The English text of the ADSp 2017 is available in the
appendices of the book for further perusal.
