Abstract

“The Model” exhibition, curated by Gordon Brennan (Head of Painting and), Neil Lebeter (Art Collections Curator), Charlie Stiven and John Brown (Lecturers from Painting) brought together models from across the University (Geology, Veterinary Science, Anatomy, Music and Architecture along with invited artists and students from Edinburgh College of Art and Gray’s School of Art, Aberdeen that addressed the theme of the model. The idea was to present an exhibition that was in itself a proposition, in a sense an opportunity for discussion and reflection on the idea of “The Model”

“The Model” as:

• Miniature.
• Proposition.
• Ideal.
• Explanation
• Maquette.
• Replica.
• Prototype.

The exhibition was held in the Sculpture Court of ECA and provided an excellent opportunity to highlight to students and the general public the breadth of University Collections and a contemporary reflection on an idea that has fascinated artists for many years.
Exhibition ran from 21st November to 9th December 2013.
