Abstract / Description of output
Hall presents further evidence on these gravels, noting that post depositional weathering has been severe and obscured their original composition. The kaolinitic clay and silt is highly stable and derived from a deeply weathered surface likely to be of Tertiary age: it is much more stable than the gruss mineral found in NE Scotland. The flints are thought to come from a former Cretaceous cover on land, not from the Moray Firth. -K.Clayton
