Translated title of the contribution: The Renaissance of the Cossacks in the Crimea: Results of a micro-study

Research output: Chapter in Book/Report/Conference proceedingChapter

Abstract

The chapter will offer an account of the Cossack revival in the now disputed territory of Crimea. It is based on fieldwork carried out between 2011-14. Several studies of the revival in the Russian Federation have appeared in print, but none on the phenomenon in Ukraine. The chapter interprets the movement from the perspective of invented traditions and from memory studies, especially nostalgia.
