Abstract

As the genomics revolution continues at a pace, the scientific community is now proposing ambitious projects to sequence the genomes of thousands of taxa across the tree of life. While large-scale genome sequencing initiatives have been launched for major groups such as vertebrates¹ and arthropods², plants have lagged behind.
