Abstract / Description of output
The ordering in the Cu sbnd O basal plane of YBa 2Cu
3O z is investigated as a function of oxygen
content and temperature. Several phase diagrams are calculated by means
of the Cluster Variation Method applied to asymmetric two-dimensional
Ising models. The interaction parameters selected guarantee the
stability of the orthorhombic structures near z=7, and, for certain
choices, also include a double-cell phase around z=6.5. O sbnd Cu sbnd O
correlations are investigated as a function of temperature and
concentrations. Calculated orthorhombic to tetragonal transition
temperatures and concentrations for various oxygen partial pressures are
in excellent agreement with recent experimental data.
