Abstract
Ursula Schultze-Bluhm, known as Ursula, was born in Mittenwald, Germany 1921. Her friendship with Jean Dubuffet, whom she met in 1954, has led to her art being associated with the categories of Art Brut and Outsider art, while the metamorphic distortions of surrealist vision are evident in many of her paintings, which often elaborate her personal experiences as a post-war tourist. Mauritius (1994) exemplifies this convergence of aesthetic style and experience in writing. Ursula died in Cologne in 1999.
