Turned Tables/Tables Turned

Keith Farquhar, David Hopkins

Research output: Book/ReportBook

Abstract

Artist’s Book and performance jointly produced by Keith Farquhar, artist and researcher at ECA and David Hopkins, poet and Professor Emeritus in Art History at Glasgow University. The book will explore the collaborators' ongoing shared interest in male identity. Masculinity is certainly considered to be in crisis, yet this crisis is rarely explored in interesting ways by male artists. The images and poems in this book will traverse themes of identity, sexuality, insufficiency, narcissism and fallibility. The publication will combine new image-based works by Farquhar, with shaped poems by Hopkins. The book will be designed to create visual overlaps between text and image, stressing formal and thematic parallels between the written and visual dimensions of the book-object.
