Jonathan Gibbs made four new paintings for this exhibition, and five new wood engravings. Map Maker, (oil on wood panel) was inspired by a sabbatical visit to the Coller Museum, Venice, to examine the Barbari woodblocks for the great Map of Venice. Gibbs first saw this at the British Museum, in the Department of Prints and Drawings. His Life is but a Dream woodcut was also inspired by Jacopo de Barbari's woodcut map.
