Abstract
A lecture in three parts:
1. Wood engraving; an historical perspective, its methods and materials, personal history and training.
2. Illustration, its uses and contexts, in relation to my own work; agents, publishers, design studios, web-based work.
3. My own teaching history; principles and knowledge; training and education; examples of student work. This was followed in both lectures by questions from the floor.
Subsequently, I was given a tour of the studios, meeting various members of staff and students.
This trip, although undertaken as Annual Leave, involved gallery and museum visits, meetings with artists, academics, and designers; as well as drawing and writing towards personal research subjects.
