What Happens Next is Secret & Recurring Line; North/South.The Irish Museum of Modern Art. Dublin, Ireland.
The Irish Museum of Modern Art (IMMA) houses a major International collection of contemporary artworks. I was commissioned to develop an artwork for the collection in 2009. This is a linear planting of snowdrops (galanthus nivalis) entitled, Recurring Line; North/South. The work address what happens when an artwork becomes part of a Museum collection, as well as examining the nature of an exhibition and its possibilities. Using the established convention of an exhibition and its publication What Happens Next is Secret. - Group exhibition, 26th January – 18th April 2010, was developed by Marguerrite O'Molloy, Assistant Curator Collections, IMMA. to further examine these issues. I contributed two pieces to this exhibition, which was instigated to mark the opening of Recurring Line; North/South in January 2010, my land art work permanently installed in the Museum grounds: The exhibition featured numerous artists of international repute, including Marina Abramevic, Art & Language, Pablo Picasso, William Hogarth and Richard Wentworth. The exhibition was accompanied by the publication 'What Happens Next is Secret'. IMMA ISBN 978-1-907020-33-9
