Abstract / Description of output

This chapter first sets out the purpose of the book, which is to explore the relationship between music, health, and wellbeing. The ideas and work presented throughout this volume are based on relatively recent developments in music research. The discussion then turns to the reasons why music could have beneficial effects on wellbeing and health. An overview of the subsequent chapters is also presented.
