Abstract / Description of output
Neveritaweg 00, Amsterdam
5/7/12 - 15/7/12
De Toekomst is pleased to present You are OK, a group exhibition of international artists’ works, curated by David Lindberg, opening Thursday July 5th at the NSDM wharf region of Amsterdam Noord. The exhibition will be installed in the atmospheric bunker-like spaces located underneath the massive cast concrete ramp and crane formerly used to launch supertankers before the NSDM Shipyard closed a few decades ago. As one approaches the entrance to the graffiti covered structure, signs of life underground become more obvious, as this 100 year + old space has been utilised for several years now by independent organisations for creative initiatives and a wide range of events.
Many of the artworks in You are OK have a certain flavor of optimistic studio practises, while ironically bridging ideas which hint that we’re at the beginning of the end (in every way).
“You are OK” will feature new works by Dutch artists Sonja Doevendans, Joop Stoop, Joost van den Toorn, and international artists: Kate Davis (UK) & David Moore (UK) Mark Rupert, (US), Alexandra Flood (CA), Mark Ross (UK), Vincent Heung (TW), Vion Pan (CN), and Ali Delici (DZ), .
