Versatile Earth - Nature documentary

Press / Media: Public Engagement Activities

Description

I was one of five world experts on extreme floods consulted (and filmed in the field in 2016) for “Volatile Earth”, an international TV series dedicated to the most dramatic events that have shaped the Earth. Three episodes were produced: “killer volcanoes”, “killer floods” and “killer hurricanes”. I contributed to the “killer floods” episode, explaining our work in Iceland and how cosmogenic nuclides can be used to date the exposure of surfaces as a result of erosion. The programme was broadcasted in 2017 on Channel 4 in the UK, NOVA-CBS in the USA (http://www.pbs.org/video/3005748051/), and on RMC in France under the name “Au Coeur des Cataclysmes” (see upload on YouTube at https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AWw-aVb_oqM&t=514s).
