Education/Academic qualification

Doctor of Philosophy (PhD), University of Dundee
Bachelor of Science, University of Stirling

Working within the Drug Discovery group at the Centre for Cardiovascular Science, my interests lie in the validation and development of drug targets into novel therapies for human disease. Through my time in both industry and academia I have extensive experience in protein biochemistry, cell biology, assay development, pharmacology and pre-clinical drug development.  I was a key member of the team that took the 11β-HSD1 inhibitor, UE2343, through to first-time in human studies.  Recent research output includes three collaborative projects with Pharm including two GSK DPAc (Discovery Partnerships with Academia) projects and a collaborative project with Sanofi-Genzyme.
