Biography

I am a senior lecturer (associate professor) in the School of Informatics at the University of Edinburgh. My research focuses on system software. Specifically, operating systems, virtualization environments, and run-times/compilers/linkers for parallel, distributed, and heterogeneous computer architectures (including near data processing platforms). My interests include general-purpose and real-time scheduling.
Previously, I was at Stevens Institute of Technology, Huawei Research Germany, Virginia Tech, IST Lisbon, Culham Centre for Fusion Energy, and Italian National Research Council. I did my PhD in Industrial Engineering at the University of Padova, Padua, Italy.

Research Interests

  • Operating systems, virtualization environment, compiler, linker, runtime systems for parallel, distributed, and heterogeneous computer architectures (including near data processing platforms).
  • Real-time and general-purpose scheduling, targeting large deployments (data-center) as well as small-devices (embedded/IoT).

Qualifications

  • BS Computer Engineering, July 2005, University of Padova, Padua, Italy
  • MS Computer Engineering, April 2007, University of Padova, Padua, Italy
  • PhD Industrial Engineering, April 2011, University of Padova, Padua, Italy
