I was born in Pordenone (Italy) on july 1st 1969. After classical studies in my native city I completed my Medical Training  at University of Udine (Italy) with an MD thesis on pharmacology in 1995. Then I completed my radiological training at University of Trieste (Italy) in 1999. Afterwards, I worked in Hammersmith Hospital in London for one year under the leadership of Professor David Cosgrove and Professor Martin JK Blomley in the field of contrast-enhanced US which became, pretty soon, my principal field of research and scientific interest. In 2000 I became assistant professor in radiology at University of Trieste. In 2005 I remained for one year in MSKCC in New YorK with the role of Research Associate in Molecular Imaging. Then I came back to Trieste and in 2014 I was appointed as associate professor in radiology, position which I covered up to october 2016. I am married with Lorenza and I have three daughters (Benedetta, Diletta, and Brigitta). My principal personal interests (after radiology) are: reading, cinema, and history.

Current Research Interests

My principal research interest is the multimodality imaging of the kidney and the liver including US, contrast-enhanced US, CT, and MRI. Anwyay, I wrote several papers also on multimodality imaging of Crohn's disease, renal disease, and pulmonary disease.

The second field is preclinical imaging with animals in the field of molecular imaging (microPET and microMR).

The third field is cardiac imaging.

Clinical Expertise and Specialisation

I am a body imaging radiologist.

According to the general organization of my previous radiology department I was involved in all the imaging fields, especially ultrasound (US and contrast-enhanced US), computed tomography (CT), and magnetic resonance (MR) imaging, with a particular dedication to the imaging of the abdomen and especially of the liver. I was involved from the diagnosis to the interventional treatment of focal liver lesions, both in normal and cirrhotic patients. I have a long experience in the ablation treatment of focal liver lesions – metastases and hepatocellular carcinoma -, including radiofrequency and microwave.

My second field of routine clinical work was the imaging of the bowel, especially US, contrast-enhanced US, CT enterography and MR enterography.

My third principal filed is thoracic imaging and I am regularly involved in chest x-ray and chest CT interpretation. In this field I have an advanced experience in the digital tomosynthesis of the chest.

During my clinical duties I am also involved in CT and MR imaging of the brain and spine.
