Biography

Kay Russell is postdoctoral research fellow in the Stevens group within The Roslin Institute. Work in the group focuses on understanding the molecular virulence of bacterial pathogens in a range of farmed animals with the aim of increasing food security as well as improving animal health and welfare. Kay currently investigates the role of Akt in Salmonella infection in chickens. Kay as a strong interest in host-pathogen interactions and gained her PhD researching intestial responses to the enteric pathogen, Clostridium perfringens, in chickens.
