From Dec 2018-Nov 2020, I'm seconded, as Senior E-Learning Developer, to the Jeanne Marchig International Centre for Animal Welfare Education at the Royal (Dick) School of Veterinary Studies. I will develop a range of educational resources, including websites, apps, and interactive activities, as well research projects.

From 2015, I was based in the Digital Education Unit, at the Royal (Dick) School of Veterinary Studies, as Senior E-Learning Developer, where I was responsible for providing e-learning development support for a number of online postgraduate programmes; pedagogical advice; and instructional design. I provide support to students and staff on e-professionalism and managing an effective digital footprint/online identity via workshops, lectures, and one-to-one clinics. I lead and co-lead a number of research projects on digital education; digital footprint; social media use in learning & teaching; and animal welfare.

Previously, Head of Digital Education at the Institute for Academic Development, University of Edinburgh, where I provided pedagogical advice to a wide range of University colleagues and engaged with research and external activities in the field of digital education and social media.

Research Interests

  • Principal Investigator for the PTAS funded 'Managing Your Digital Footprint' project (2014-2015). The research aimed to investigate students' digital footprints and use of social media.
  • Co-investigator for the PTAS funded project "A live pulse": Yik Yak for Understanding Teaching, Learning and Assessment at Edinburgh (2016-2017).
  • Principal Investigator for the PTAS funded project 'Developing a research methods, data analysis and statistics course (RMDAS): engaging students in curriculum development' (2018-2019)
  • In addition, I am interested in social media usage and the possible implications for teaching and learning; as well as research, ethics and social media.


Guest tutor on a number of online MSc programmes (2015-), providing lectures and support on research ethics and online research.

I developed (2015-2016) and taught on the Postgraduate Certificate in Academic Practice, 'Online Learning Environments' course - Institute for Academic Development.

Guest tutor on the MSc Digital Education (Introduction to Digital Environments for Learning course) - School of Education, HSS (2014-2016).
