I have graduated from University of Warmia and Mazury in Olsztyn, Poland in 2009. Subsequently I worked in private practice. In 2010 I have started PhD at Michigan State University, College of Veterinary Medicine. During my PhD I was studying immunomodulatory properties of feline mesenchymal stem cells and their clinical application in chronic feline idiopathic cystitis. In 2016 I relocated to R(D)SVS to start a clinical lecturership position, which combines work in small animal internal medicine with research on identifying novel approaches to cancer immunotherapy. My research interests also include therapeutic use of stem cells in companion animals, use of next generation sequencing to identify disease causing genetic variants and pathways involved in disease pathogenesis in companion animals. In 2016 I was awarded an AVMA/AVMF Young Investigator Award for work on immunomodulatory properties of feline mesenchymal stem cells. In 2017 I was awarded an ABCD and Boeringher Ingelheim Young Scientist Award.
Cancer immunotherapy, therapeutic use of mesenchymal stem cells, immunology, personalized medicine, use of next generation sequencing to identify disease causing variants and pathways
My current research interests include studying the role of immune checkpoints in canine and feline cancer and inflammatory disease. I am also intereted in interactions between innate and adaptive immune system in cancer patients.
