I am a Senior Clinical Lecturer in the Centre for Medical Education at the University of Edinburgh, a General Practitioner in Fife, and Co-Editor-in-Chief of The Clinical Teacher journal (www.theclinicalteacher.com).  At the University, I am Programme Director of the MSc and PhD in Clinical Education, with particular responsibilities for training in research in medical education, and am involved in various aspects of the undergraduate medical programme, including being Course Organiser for 'SSC4b' and learning outcome development and alignment (OPALplus project).  I am particularly interested in research on clinicians as teachers, outcomes-based education, international medical education and peer assisted learning.  Recent external work includes leading a workpackage of MEDINE2 (www.medine2.com), leading Phase 1 of the NES Faculty Development for Scotland Project, and sitting on the Scientific Advisory Board of the Dieter-Scheffner Subject Centre, Charité Medical University, Berlin.
