Current Research Interests

Host-pathogen interactions in herpesvirus and influenza virus infections of man and animals.

Teaching

BVM&S 1st year: New curriculum. 100+ students Two lectures on molecular diagnostics, one lecture on oncogenes and their function, One 3 hour tutorial session; Seven 1 h tutorials. Twelve lectures on Basic Virology.

BVM&S 2nd Year: Infection and Immunity. Course Manager. 100+ students Twelve lectures on Basic Virology. Two (4 half classes) practical class in Immunology. Two 1 hr half class revision sessions; seven 1h tutorials on all aspects of course. Member of Board of Examiners. Member of Staff Student Liaison Committee.

BSc, BSc (Vet. Sc), BSc (Med. Sc) Honours Microbiology and Infection. 40+ students. This course is run as a series of elective courses. I am the organiser for one elective. Five two hour lecture sessions, one three hour student presentation session. Ten hours of tutorial sessions I also supervise students for their research project. (Member of Board of Examiners 2002-2008).
