Research Interests

My research focuses on natural language understanding and generation. I aim to develop general framworks for generating from underlying meaning representation or for text rewriting such as summarization, text simplification and paraphrase generation. The idea is to develop a general framework that is not specific to an application and it incorporates syntactic and semantic information.

 

Qualifications

2014, PhD in Computer Science, University of Lorraine, Nancy.

2011, Erasmus Mundus European Masters in Language and Communication Technology.

2009, B. Tech. (Honours) in Computer Science and Engineering, Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Kharagpur.

Biography

Shashi Narayan is a research associate at School of Informatics, the University of Edinburgh. He is currently collaborating on the H2020 SUMMA project with Shay Cohen.  Before, He pursued his doctoral studies (2011-2014) at University of Lorraine, Nancy, under the supervision of Claire Gardent. He was the top recipient of the Erasmus Mundus Masters scholarship (2009-2011) in Language and Communication Technology (EM-LCT). He was awarded Bachelor of Technology (Honours) in Computer Science and Engineering from Indian Institute of Technology (IIT), Kharagpur India.
