Position: Princess Margaret Research Development Fellow in cerebral small vessel diseases

I am determining whether 'non-traditional' neurological and cognitive symptoms that do not fit with a conventional diagnosis correspond with a higher burden of small vessel disease (SVD) on brain MRI. I am also characterising these symptoms in relation to progression of SVD (a) radiologically based on longitudinal disease progression on MRI and (b) clinically, in the form of cognitive decline and recurrent stroke. This work will allow us to identify those individuals with early features of SVD, before significant disease progression occurs. Identifying the disease early will be central to future dementia and stroke prevention. I am currently involved in the Mild Stroke Study 3, the R4VaD Study and the LACI-2 Study.
