2005 | Bachelor of Science, University of Glasgow |
William Ho gained his BSc(Hons) degree in parasitology at the University of Glasgow in 2009. In the following year he studied molecular parasitology at the University of Glagosw during which he worked on two research projects under the supervision of Professor Dave Barry and Dr Harry de Koning, obtaining his MRes degree at the end of 2010.
In 2011 William took up a PhD position in developmental biology at the Roslin Institute, University of Edinburgh. With supervision from Dr Denis Headon his work aimed to elucidate the molecular mechanisms involved in the development of the feather periodic pattern, submitting his thesis in 2015.
Following this, William undertook a post-doctoral position under Dr Denis Headon, continueing his PhD work. Using avian skin as a model, he demonstrated that a reaction-diffusion-taxis mechanism integrated with tissue mechanics triggers the self-organisation of the feather periodic pattern. This work was published in Plos Biology in 2019 - Feather arrays are patterned by interacting signalling and cell density waves.
In 2019, William joined the lab of Dr Douglas Vernimmen to study the role an epigenetic regulator in the development of acute myeloid leukaemia.
