Photochemical reactions produced by laser illumination of amorphous As2S3 films on Ag2S substrates have been studied over the temperature range 30–295 K using Raman spectroscopy. After an induction period dependent on the incident power density, Ag3AsS3 and Ag2S start to form in the film as a result of silver, and possibly sulphur, from the substrate photodiffusing in and reacting with it. The reaction kinetics are similar to those for the photodoping of amorphous As2S3 on silver substrates.
