Abstract

This article examines the possibilities - theoretical, methodological, aesthetic - of approaching the performing body as an analytical unit within our brand understanding of modernism. Through the idea of the travelling performer within the modernist networks, the article examines the formal and political potential of placing performance at the centre of approaches to global modernism. It looks at a number of such encounters and reads them within the context of the 'event'.
