Abstract

Observations of the Galaxy's centre have revealed the existence of two discs or possibly streamers of O and W-R stars orbiting Sgr A* at radii between about 0.05 and 0.5 pc and at an angle approaching 90° to one another. They are all roughly 6 million years old. This would indicate that two star forming gas discs arose from a single event. We use smoothed particle hydrodynamics (SPH) to show it is possible to create these from the infall of a single turbulent cloud, and then address how the infall itself may have come to pass.
